Timer Issue running on 1500+ items.

Jun 6, 2012 at 7:28 PM

I have a list of time off requests that people have entered.  I created a workflow to run each time a new item is created or updated.  I also setup a daily timer workflow to run daily (@ 2:00 am) that will refresh all the managers incase they change during the previous day in AD.

When I ran it on 1500 items, I did not get an error at all.  But then I ran it again for testing and it had this error when it got to around item 250:

Exception.StackTrace=   at EF.EFWorkflowTimer.logWorkflowTimerHistory(SPWeb objSPWeb, SPListItem itemTarget, String strMessage)   at EF.EFWorkflowTimer.processOneJobitem(SPWeb objSPWebRoot, SPListItem objTimerItem)

Exception.Message=Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Exception.Message=Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Exception.Message=

There 4 steps in the workflow and therefore, there are four errors when it happens.

I can run the agent manually on the item and restart the Timer and it will get past that item and continue then get the error again.

I am running on Sharepoint 2010 (with SP1 installed).  I don't know if someone had that item opened and editing it.  Would that cause this error to occur?  I will be typically running this at 2:00 am.

I am at a loss because the item looks perfect and the fields are all filled in the way they should be.  Please help!

Thanks,

Karin

Hi Karin,

Is it possible that there was some kind of conflict?   I think you need to check SharePoint log for further error message.
